The Draft Constitutional Preamble
Well I kept hearing about it but never actually heard anybody read what it said. Well I finally found John Howard's proposed preamble to the Australian Constitution. Having read it over, considered it, dwelled upon it, I came to the conclusion that it does absolutely nothing for me as an Australian, lacks poetry, refers to God (not the Serpent of the Dreaming, not Buddha, not Thor or any other transcendental being) and "mateship"! What the hell?!. In its present form it is beyond help.

Kosovo, Serbia, Yugoslavia, Albania, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, the Balkans... NATO, UN, US, UK, Russia, China, Italy, France... confused? Yeah, so was I. Try checking out BBC's Homepage and following the links to a history of the Balkans. It provides a timeline of the sordid and messy history of the Balkans and the numerous changes of national borders, governments and ideologies that has led to the present... confusion. It's all much clearer to me now.
